Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Java and Javascript)

ING is looking for an excellent senior engineer, specialized in full stack development, to strengthen our squads responsible for the Global Digital Channels of ING Wholesale Banking Tech.

Your tasks

You will be developing new features to securely identify our customers from all over the world. Your work will involve delivering highly available, secure and scalable IT solutions. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to continuous delivery and continuous integration practices.

You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment of the IT organization of ING Global Digital Channels. We use Scrum and strongly believe in DevOps. The focus is on high-quality, mission-critical software delivered in time using iterative development.

You will:

• Design, build and maintain both back-end APIs and front-end applications
• Ensure that work required to keep systems running is identified, prioritized and picked up
• Review changes and provide constructive feedback to colleagues
• Mentor more junior engineers within the team
• Assist in incident resolution, both during office hours and (occasionally) outside
• Help identify and implement any improvements across the entire SDLC

This job will be partially remote, but you will be required to work at least 2 days per week from the office in Amsterdam.

Your personal profile

Mandatory technical skills

• At least 8 years as a Java developer
• Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Maven / Gradle
• RESTful APIs
• At least 3 years as a front-end developer
• HTML, CSS, Javascript, npm

Nice-to-have technical skills

• Kotlin
• Scala
• Kubernetes / OpenShift
• Oracle SQL
• Kafka
• Web components, Lit
• Azure DevOps
• IT security, encryption

Other skills

• You have a master’s in computer science or an equivalent field, or equivalent experience
• You are proficient in English
• You have experience working in a DevOps environment, with many distributed services
• You love technology, naturally stay up to date on relevant new developments and share learnings with colleagues
• You are able to develop efficient and maintainable code with the right balance between solving the problem at hand and not over-engineering your solution
• You are proactive, perseverant and value a multi-cultural work environment
• You have the ability to work independently and together with your own team, being also capable to efficiently align with other internal parties or external customers, and guide colleagues
• You have very good analytical and problem-solving skills
