Your role & work environment

You are a Chapter Lead in Consumer Lending that combines a good technical background with delivery experience, knowledge in Ops processes,IT architecture areas and with people management skills.

You, along with the Engineers in your chapter, will take IT ownership of the Consumer Lending BE assets (CLAP, FIL, and SIL), drive the implementation of new features in digital journeys for the Consumer Lending Tribe and play a key role in New Banking Platform (NBP) transformation project for the legacy applications within the area. This will be done in close collaboration with Architects, Product owners, Product leads and NL Consumer Lending team (for the XCLAS Pega journey).

We are looking for an experienced Engineer (minimum “competent” level according to the Dreyfus model) to take responsibility for combined deliveries within the Tribe Consumer Lending, covering Front End, Back End, and OPS. Next to that, the role involves dedicating time to building expertise within your chapter while developing and coaching chapter members.

Your Day-to-Day

Delivery Management

  • You combine leading a chapter of Java, Pega, Front End, OPS, Feature Engineer, Test Automation engineers, setting high standards for engineering excellence, and ensuring knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • You will be responsible for IT delivery, build strong IT solutions, balance between IT health and new functionality
  • You will ensure that the teamdevelop new and update existing flows using ING web standards and way of working
  • You will ensure the team's success in delivery by helping to identify and remove impediments that are impacting the team's ability on delivery.
  • You will be leading role in processes and decisions which are strategic for your chapter, such as the vendor selection, technology selection, offshore strategies
  • You will have an up-to-date vision regarding IT expertise and keeps abreast of developments
  • You will ensure IT compliance and IT risk control
  • Defines and ensures application of standards in his/her own area of IT expertise.
  • Working with Product Owners and Product Lead to plan, prioritize, and complete project assignments.

People and Chapter management

  • Is a key member of the Product Owner, Chapter Lead and Agile Coach (POCLAC) sessions, where ways to optimize performance and improvement of capabilities of the squad are discussed
  • Discusses resource planning for squads and chapter with the IT Area Lead, Product Owner and Product Lead
  • Identifies top performance and takes action at an early stage for underperformance
  • Mentoring and coaching engineers technically and professionally by offering constructive feedback.
  • Recruiting (on/off boarding) and hiring.

The team and department

  • You will join the Retail Lending IT management team. (Consumer Loans, Mortgages and Collections)
  • The Consumer Loans chapter consists of more than 20 engineers(Java, Pega, Front End, OPS, Feature Engineer, Test Automation engineers), located in Brussels, India, Romania and Manila.
  • In the coming years the area will continue to work on strategic digitalization and migration projects, contribution to ING group solutions and a huge modernization of the IT landscape.

Tech stack/ knowledge:

  • Knowledge of ING organization, ING standards, frameworks and IT architecture areas
  • Good work experience in management of integration services (such as APIs) in applications landscape
  • Good understanding and proven work experience in web-technology applications leveraging Java Spring Boot, Pega and front-end technologies
  • You are familiar with modern architectures
  • You are familiar with BPM(Business process management) and technical flows
  • Work experience with IT risk management and IT risk governance
  • Understanding of DevOPS processes: Azure Devops, CI/CD, SRE Tooling/ Monitoring/ Alerting: Grafana, Prometheus, IAT

Personal profile:

  • Good communication skills (in English)
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree diploma in Engineering or related fields
  • A talent for taking it on and making it happen
  • Quality orientation/attention to detail
  • Pro-active and eager to learn
  • Strong social and communication skills. Being a sparring partner for our business colleagues
