Coverage Banker - Corporates - Analyst
Department Overview:
The Corporate Sector Coverage (CSC) team operates within the Sectors organisation at ING Wholesale Banking. CSC UK’s client base includes a range of FTSE100-250 corporates with primarily a European footprint across varying sectors. The team is responsible for originating, coordinating and executing integrated corporate banking services or investment banking propositions for its clients, working across ING’s international network and in close alignment with product partners. ING aims to differentiate itself via a combination of sector expertise, global network, and sustainability leadership.
Candidate Profile
Qualification/Education
- Undergraduate degree in a numerate discipline e.g., economics, finance, banking, accountancy, etc.
- Fluent English language skills both written and oral
Experience/Knowledge
- 1-2 years’ experience in a relevant corporate banking / front office role is desirable
- Lending or relevant corporate banking product experience is a bonus
- Understanding of credit risk and non -financial risk
- Strong team player with ability to work independently
Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:
ING has a fantastic opportunity for an Analyst level Assistant Relationship Manager (“ARM”) to support the development of the CSC client portfolio. The role will report to the UK Head of CSC. The ideal candidate is degree educated in a numerate discipline from a top-tier university; 1-2 years of experience in a relevant corporate banking front office role is desirable. Lending or relevant corporate banking product experience is a bonus.
The ARM plays an important role in the overall client relationship, supporting the Parent Account Managers (“PAM”) in managing client relationships. Additionally, the ARM works closely with KYC colleagues to ensure that the Customer Acceptance process, both for new and existing clients, is executed in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Tasks:
1. Client Contact Management – clearly understand the marketing strategy for each client to support the PAM in maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients:
2. New business opportunities / prospect clients – align with the PAM to maintain client dialogue, monitor client activity, follow market developments and respond to opportunities accordingly.
3. Execution - support PAM and product partners in execution and delivery of transactions or mandates:
4. KYC – work closely with Client Onboarding teams to ensure all steps of customer acceptance process (CDD/FATCA/CRS/MiFID/ESR/Sanctions/ESG) are completed / updated / renewed satisfactorily for both new and existing clients
5. Data Quality – work closely with PAMs, Client Onboarding, Risk and Finance to ensure that internal exposure and income reporting systems are accurate
6. Communication – on completion of major transactions, work with the PAM to ensure that the Deals Database template is completed and that a transaction ‘story’ is made available for the Head of CSC
