Job Profile Summary

ING’s Financial Institutions (FI) sector combines relationship management, multi product sales and structured lending for Bank, Non-bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) and Financial Sponsors Group (FSG). NBFI and FSG clients include sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, pension funds, securities companies and asset managers.

Sitting within the Financial Institutions (‘FI’) Sector, the APAC Fund Finance (‘FF’) team is part of a global business responsible for the origination and structuring of primarily lending transactions to funds managed by financial sponsors and asset managers. Our clients are predominantly alternative asset funds (private equity, debt, real estate and infrastructure focused) managed by leading financial sponsors and managers across the globe. The product offering includes investor-backed capital call facilities, asset-backed NAV financing (across direct buyout, and private credit) and hybrid solutions combining the two approaches.

The FF APAC team is now looking to hire an experienced banker into the team to support continued growth of the business as it looks to deliver on growth targets, drive product expansion into NAV financing and support wider ING Fund Finance relationships. The role will sit within the APAC Sectors team, which is made up of experienced fund finance professionals focused on relationship management, origination and structuring of transactions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive the origination and execution of fund finance transactions within the Fund Finance team.
  • Structuring and pricing of fund finance transactions working with the Transaction Management and Portfolio Management teams on execution and documentation negotiation.
  • Strategic business steering to deliver ING’s strategy for the Wholesale Bank, identifying opportunities to drive client value, provide sector expertise and increase lending volumes mobilised for ESG related purposes.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships at a senior level alongside the Relationship Managers, delivering the whole bank to the client and identifying wider opportunities beyond the core lending product.
  • Drive product innovation and thought leadership by supporting the origination of structured lending opportunities including NAV to hybrid solutions.
  • Mentoring team members and developing product expertise and technical skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of the fund finance industry and products to the highest professional levels.

What we're looking for:

Qualification/Education

Essential:

  • Good communication skills (speaking, reading and writing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Law.
  • Extensive transaction origination and execution experience within an international financial institution.

Desirable:

  • Relevant professional qualification such as CFA, CIMA etc.

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • At least 8-10 years’ experience within corporate / structured lending / Funds Finance industry.
  • Proven track record in originating and executing lending transactions.
  • Experience in structuring and negotiating transactions, including long form documentation.
  • Client facing and relationship management experience.
  • Exposure to ancillary products such as hedging instruments, cash management and/or depositary services.
  • Teamwork and mentoring experience.

Desirable:

  • Technical understanding of capital relief instruments such as SRTs and external ratings.
  • In depth understanding of the regulatory environment affecting European banks.
