As the Head of Retail and Business Banking Credit Risk, you will be responsible for 2nd Line Credit Risk oversight across the Mortgages, Credit Cards, Personal Loans & Business Banking portfolios. Your teams will have responsibility for credit risk frameworks, policies, risk appetite setting, portfolio monitoring, credit risk reporting, credit decision modelling, Loan Loss provisioning and risk forecasting, stress testing, ESG, Credit risk data & model governance.

You will be a key risk leader tasked with ensuring ING Australia continues to meet the requirements of regulators, ING head office and ING Australia senior management.

The role requires a deep understanding
of the local Australian Mortgage, Consumer Lending and SME market as well as experience leading an end-to-end retail credit risk function covering policy, decision systems, reporting, analytics and credit decision modelling functions.

What you’ll do

  • Provide leadership and direction in the management of the Retail and Business Banking Credit Risk function across Mortgages, Credit Cards, Personal Loans & Business Banking portfolios
  • Your teams have key responsibilities across credit risk frameworks, policies, risk appetite setting, portfolio monitoring, credit risk reporting (regulatory & management), credit decision modelling (regulatory and non-regulatory models), Loan Loss provisioning and risk forecasting, stress testing, ESG, Credit risk data & model governance
  • Be key point of contact for both local and global regulators on matters related to credit risk – APRA, ASIC, RBA, ECB, JST
  • Represent ING as a senior leader in external industry interactions across RMRT, ARCA, ABA and other forums
  • Provide portfolio information and advice to ING Head Office, ING Australia CRO, ING Australia Board, ING Australia EXCO and other functions of the senior management team

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years’ experience, in leading an end-to-end retail credit risk function covering policy, decision systems, reporting, analytics and credit decision modelling functions
  • Tertiary qualification in the areas of finance, commerce, business or mathematics
  • Deep understanding of the Australian Mortgage, Consumer Lending and SME market, Business models, macro-outlook, regulations and drivers of risk
  • Proven ability to set up credit risk strategies and design credit infrastructure across the credit life cycle (origination, customer in life and collections) from scratch for a retail business with a focus on digitisation and automation
  • Experience in setting up RAS and managing policy settings to manage retail credit portfolios within board defined risk appetite
  • Risk forecasting - credit provisions/risk costs, risk weight
  • Stress testing - Involved in stress testing as a credit risk SME and coordinate actions coming out of the stress test with Line 1
  • ESG: Experience with integrating ESG models, data into the credit underwriting process
