It’s an exciting time to grow your career with ING, and we have a new opportunity for a Manager, Business Controls to join our high performing Business Controls Officer (BCO) on a 12-month contract.

As a Manager, Business Controls you’ll support the design, implementation and maintenance of obligations as part of the Obligations Management Framework across our Chief Operations Office (COO). You’ll be working with our Risk Excellence Project, Business as Usual (BAU) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), COO BCO and COO Business Units.

Additionally, you’ll provide key inputs into the Project and Business Led Obligations Sprints, including ensuring the organisation's obligations are mapped, embedded and managed in an end-to-end framework; integrated into BAU frameworks; and subject to governance and challenge.

This role is based in Sydney.


What you’ll do

  • Support the design and implementation of the Obligations Management Framework.
  • Attend workshops, co-ordinate and work with key stakeholders in the business and across theorganisation, and help in identifying, documenting and mapping existing processes, risks and controls toobligations including the identification of any gaps or uplift requirements.
  • Maintain ownership and perform obligation governance, including the remediation of any gaps or uplift requirements identified.
  • Facilitate workshops and conduct risk assessments and work with the business to identify key and non-key controls, create and implement new controls and formalise / uplift / strengthen existing controls (incl. test plans), obtain the appropriate signoffs and register and map them to the obligations in the Bank’s Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) system.
  • Work with the Key Control Testing (KCT) coordinator to ensure key controls, that need to be tested from a design and operational effectiveness perspective, are included in the Bank’s Annual KCT Plan.
  • Develop and enhance processes, playbooks, tools and templates and reporting to support COO, BCO and the business in adhering to the Obligation Management Framework.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a Line 1 Risk function within financial services, preferably banking. A deep understanding of operational and compliance risks is essential.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and maintaining ObligationManagement Frameworks.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in facilitating workshops and conducting risk assessments, designing controls and test plans and performing key control testing.
  • The ability to analyse and identify risks, as well as improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.
  • A well-developed analytical and pragmatic approach to problem solving and decision making, and the ability to work in a high paced environment with sound analytical skills to make decisions based on data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate with all levels of management; make recommendations; and implement and deliver change.
