ING is proud to be recognised as Australia’s most recommended bank, committed to responsible banking and risk excellence. As a Manager – Risk & Governance, you will have a unique role as the 1st Line Risk Manager sitting within the Line 2 Risk Division. 

It’s a true Line 1 Risk management position. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Risk profile of the Risk division, overseeing risk controls and conduct assessments whilst advising the risk leadership team and facilitating governance activities such as committee reporting and risk documentation.

It’s a critical role partnering with risk leadership team to ensure that risk has its own house in order and is advising the rest of the bank from a position of strength. You will have to build strong, trusted partner relationships with stakeholders across both financial and non-financial risk.   

This role is ideal for a strategic and detail-oriented line 1 risk professional who thrives on building trusted partnerships with stakeholders. You’ll work closely with teams to strengthen risk governance and compliance frameworks, ensuring effective management of non-financial risks while supporting ING’s operational integrity and business objectives.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain the Risk Profile, ensuring alignment with business operations.
  • Oversee risk controls, conduct assessments and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Driving development and monitoring of controls, undertaking controls testing and due diligence as needed to support Monitoring and tracking non-financial risk items (issues, events, audit actions)
  • Advise stakeholders on risk governance, risk assessments, and control frameworks.
  • Facilitate governance activities, including committee reporting and risk documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership on risk mitigation strategies, ensuring a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements, emerging risks, and compliance trends

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of experience in risk governance, compliance, or regulatory risk management within financial services. 
  • Strong understanding of banking risk frameworks, governance structures, and regulatory obligations. 
  • Ability to collaborate with executive stakeholders, providing insightful risk analysis and guidance. 
  • Experience in risk profiling, controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
