We are looking for a Dutch-speaking Economist to strengthen our macro team in Amsterdam, with a particular focus on households. In this role, you will develop clear, data-driven insights on consumer spending, household income, savings, confidence and broader macroeconomic developments. A key part of the role is the analysis of unique proprietary data and translating those insights into distinctive analysis. You will write research independently, manage and coordinate research processes, and help translate economic developments into relevant insights for clients, colleagues and other senior stakeholders.

You will be part of an international team with a focus on European economies.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Develop clear, data-driven insights on consumer spending, household income, savings, confidence and broader macroeconomic developments.

  • Analyse unique proprietary data and translate those insights into distinctive economic analysis.

  • Write economic research independently.

  • Manage and coordinate research processes.

  • Translate economic developments into relevant insights for clients, colleagues and other senior stakeholders.

  • Create presentations on economic themes for both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

  • Lead research processes from asking the right question through to sharing and presenting the output.

  • Coordinate with colleagues on both content and process to ensure analysis is relevant, clear, accurate and delivered on time.

  • Experience in economic research.

  • Completed MSc in Economics or a related field.

  • Strong quantitative and programming skills.

  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics and consumer economics.

  • Ability to work independently on research ideas and research projects.

  • Ability to use large and proprietary datasets responsibly.

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to turn data into relevant and compelling analysis.

  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain economic themes to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

  • Fluency in Dutch is required.

  • Strong English language skills and the ability to deliver high-quality written research for internal and external audiences.
