Within our Netherlands HR Team, an opportunity has become available for an HRBP Business Banking Netherlands.

The role of an HR Business Partner (HRBP) is to enable the delivery of the People Vision through closely collaborating and working with the HR Communities of Expertise (CoEs) and People Services. The role will directly partner with a wide range of key senior leaders & areas, from sales, to products & tribes. The HRBP position directly reports to the HRBP Lead Business Banking for the Netherlands and is based in Amsterdam.

The team

ING Business Banking NL works for clients in the full scope of Self Employed, Micro, SME and MidCorp business segments.

Towards 2028 Business Banking NL mission is becoming the Best Bank for Business, enabling clients to accelerate their green transition successfully and strengthening financial health along the way. Business Banking NL drives its way of working based on our three strategic focus points, being I) growing our business, II) leading in sustainability and III) improving our Digital Customer Experience. We have created the Easy Banking, Guided Banking and Relationship Banking service models within which we match specific customer needs with different processes and products. The sales teams are regionally divided into four regions responsible for SME and MidCorp segments, where self-employed and Micro clients are served centrally.

Roles & responsibilities

As HRBP you work closely with business leaders and their management teams in shaping and implementing business strategy and the HR people agenda. You are responsible for building a strong relationship with the business, you bring in-depth specialist knowledge in multiple HR areas of expertise. Equally, as HRBP you have strong business acumen and work well in diverse international teams. Participating in management team meetings, as HRBP you coach and build the capabilities of business leaders and their management teams on the people strategy. You also provide them with global people solutions that will support the business strategy.

You play a tactical role in implementing global people solutions, developed by the HR experts, within the business they are responsible for.

Key activities include, amongst others:

  • partnering with business leaders to apply the Business banking & people strategy, and building strategic workforce plans to support execution;

  • leading and supporting annual people processes such as, Step Up performance reviews, succession planning, talent reviews, action planning based on company surveys, and the promotion & compensation processes;

  • developing & coaching the leadership of the future using the global talent programs and other tools (e.g.Hogan, Spencer Stuart) ;

  • driving the diversity & inclusion-strategy for the dedicated business accounts in line with overall ING D&I strategy and ING D&I initiatives;

  • acting as a change agent and representing the voice of people during business transformations.

  • being a trusted advisor on sensitive matters.

  • closely collaborating with the Global Business Banking HR Business Partners on certain (global) processes to ensure synergies and alignment, where the needs of local & global are balanced.

  • contributing to the approach towards attracting, retaining and recognizing key talent

As HRBP you also feed back the business needs and context to the HR experts, so they can create new or change existing people solutions. There will also be an opportunity to take on a point of contact role in an area of interest, such as learning, data, vitality, leadership, engagement etc within the HRBP NL team.

How to succeed

We are looking for someone with strong business acumen who makes the difference in:

  • Shaping the People and Business Agenda - partner with business leaders and their management teams to ensure that the right core people capabilities are available to allow for current and future business success.

  • Building a Performance Culture - coach business leaders and their management teams in using performance and talent management solutions to drive individual and team performance.

  • Improve gender balance in our senior leadership team and leadership pipeline

  • Embed Vitality in how we work together and create an inclusive and save environment

  • Promote and apply Global People solutions that meet business needs - bring and apply global people solutions, developed by the CoE, to the specific business context.

  • Collaborating to successfully convey the HR service delivery model - bring feedback on the business needs and context to the CoE and People Services to improve the people solutions, while also aligning with HRBPs ING wide

Furthermore:

  • You will hold a Master’s degree in preferably HR or Business and you have at least 5 years of relevant HR Partnering work experience in an international setting.

  • Knowledge of local employment legislation and regulations.

  • Demonstrated consultation skills to help the business in understanding their people needs and propose the right global solution to fit that need.

  • Affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building the people agenda.

  • Practical experience of implementing significant change initiatives successfully, including individual coaching and team facilitation.

  • Proven expertise in handling Reward related people topics.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a clear demonstration of influencing and challenging business leaders.

  • Deep understanding of the HR service delivery model (Ulrich model) and how collaboration across functions is key in delivering value to the business.

  • You are a strong communicator at all levels of the organization (excellent written and verbal Dutch & English language skills and story-telling abilities).
