Apply now

Internship duration: 5–6 months (36 hours per week)
Starting date: 1 September 2026

Kick-start your academic year at the heart of ING’s International Talent Programme!

Are you passionate about talent development and eager to gain practical experience in organizing events, coordinating processes, and working with trainees? Join our Trainee Management team and help shape the experience of young professionals at ING.

In this role, you’ll be actively involved in the selection of new trainees, the organization of onboarding events, and the day-to-day coordination of the programme. You’ll work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization, and take on real responsibility in a team that values initiative and collaboration.

The team

You will join the Trainee Management team, part of the Talent & Career circle within HR Netherlands. This team of three trainee managers is responsible for selecting and supporting trainees within the ING International Talent Programme.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll be in close contact with trainees and colleagues from across the business. This gives you a clear understanding of how the programme connects different parts of the organisation and how stakeholders work together.

The team is small, open, and collaborative, with a strong focus on working together and supporting each other. There is plenty of room to pick up tasks, bring your ideas, and focus on your own development. If there are specific skills you’d like to build or areas you want to explore, there’s space to include that in your internship!

Roles and responsibilities

Expect a lot of variety! You will:

  • Support the selection of new trainees, working closely with trainee managers, campus recruiters, the Employer Brand Activation team, and current trainees
  • Be in regular contact with trainees and support them throughout their journey, while helping the team keep the programme running smoothly
  • Together with a colleague, organise the two-day onboarding programme (April and October) for each new group of trainees, and support the organisation of other in-person and virtual events .
  • Be responsible for parts of the event organization from planning to execution, including the implementation of the programme, internal and external communication, planning, budgeting, and running the event itself.
  • Keep things running smoothly behind the scenes by managing administrative processes, such as training registrations and data checks across different systems.
  • Support the team with creative and organisational tasks, including developing presentations, managing agendas, and preparing planning materials.

You are part of the team from day one. Your ideas are taken into account, and you are encouraged to take initiative. And there is flexibility to shape your internship based on what you want to learn and how you want to grow.

As an intern in the Trainee Management team, you will also be part of the Internship Board. Together with a small group of interns, you’ll organise workshops, events, and meet-ups for the wider ING intern community. This is your chance to step up, use your creativity, and make an impact within the intern community!

How to succeed?

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Takes responsibility and sees tasks through
  • Works proactively and gets things done
  • Is strong in planning and organising
  • Communicates confidently with different stakeholders
  • Shows initiative and works independently
  • Is curious and eager to learn

  • Has an interest in talent development
  • Works well in a dynamic environment
  • Is fluent in Dutch and English
  • Has a WO thinking and working level and is enrolled at a Dutch HBO or university

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and gain practical experience in a dynamic environment. You’ll be involved in many tasks and learn a lot along the way, not only about your field and the organization, but also about yourself and what suits you best.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Internship allowance of €700 per month (based on a 36-hour work week)
  • Your own work laptop
  • Hybrid working (a mix of home and office)
  • Plenty of responsibility and ownership in your role
  • Lots of space and appreciation to show your initiative
  • Insight into how a large international organization works

  • A strong intern and trainee community within ING
  • Insight into the full trainee selection process
