Who You Are

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Engineer in Data Recovery Services to drive our team of experts in safeguarding ING's most valuable data assets.
As a seasoned engineer with a strong background in backup and/or disaster recovery (DR) solutions, you will be responsible to ensure the data recovery readiness of our most critical services in case of data impacting events. 
Your entrepreneurial mindset and ability to run the team like your own business will be key in ensuring the protection of our critical services’ data. If you are passionate about disaster recovery and/or backup management, and ready to make an impact, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a IT Continuity Engineer you are an experienced engineer and you are seen by colleagues as a go-to person for all Data Consistency Recovery related matters.
You set the standards for ING Belgium and take responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in your field of expertise to deliver technical activities related to the continuous improvement of the Critical Business Services data recovery readiness.
As such, amongst others, you

  • Define and maintain the process to regularly evaluate adequacy of Critical Business Services Data Recovery strategies to respond to risks of loss of datacenter; loss of data or loss of access to data caused by hardware failures, human error, ransomware or cyber-attacks, within agreed recovery objectives.
  • Work together with Development Squads to assess, design and implement data recovery strategies that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements ensuring that data consistency is protected from unauthorized data modification or deletion, or in the event of ransomware and cyber-attacks.
  • Oversee and manage a global team of data recovery experts responsible for performing the assessments, implementing, maintaining, and innovating backup/restore and Data Consistency Recovery solutions.
  • Implement and maintain data consistency recovery procedures in existing disaster plans to ensure rapid recovery of data and systems in the event of outages or incidents.
  • Coordinate and monitor the execution of the Data Consistency Recovery procedures in case of event of outages or incidents. This implies being on-call.
  • Coach and train other operational members of the Chapter to coordinate and monitor the execution of the Data Consistency Recovery procedures in case of event of outages or incidents.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on Data Consistency Recovery readiness including assessments of compliance with policies, and the effectiveness of solutions.

You

  • Have, as a minimal, a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Can prove 5+ years of experience in IT development and operations functions.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the banking regulation, including DORA.
  • Have an adaptive and make it happen mindset, great analytical skills and the ability to learn new (technical) concepts and skills fast.  
  • Have a proven track record of managing teams of Dev/Ops engineers.
  • Demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to run the team of experts like your own team.
  • Have an excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prove an excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have a proven track record of delivering and supporting applications, including the definition of requirements, management of implementation and testing.
  • Are experienced in Agile / Scrum / DevOps methodologies. 

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Disaster Recovery and/or Data Consistency Recovery solutions.
  • Ability to design, implement, and manage data consistency recovery solutions for complex enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for data recovery including regular backups, and reconciliation strategies.
  • Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in data recovery practices.
  • Passion for safeguarding critical data and ensuring business continuity.
  • Understanding of ransomware prevention techniques and how backups contribute to ransomware resilience.
  • Ability to integrate backups with disaster recovery plans to ensure that even in the event of a ransomware attack, critical data can be recovered.
  • Proactive approach to project management and resource allocation.
  • Passion for continuous learning and development of the team.
