With the help of 1400 engineers, risk and operations professionals, we offer 150 services in tech, non-financial risk & compliance, audit and retail operations to 24 ING units worldwide.

The Mission

We are looking for a strong developer who is technically passionate, solution-focused and able to contribute to the design, development, test automation, and hardening our trading applications.

Your day to day

You will be joining an international team (RO, UK, NL) responsible for the digitalization and automation of some of the bank's trading activities, specifically for the Fixed income desks. Most of the work will involve Java 17/21 with libraries like Spring, Cucumber, Micrometer, Guava, Aeron, ... You will also be exposed to Azure DevOps, Ansible, Docker, Kafka, SQL Server and more.

To be effective in this team you need to be willing to learn about financial markets, specifically the fundamentals of how different instruments are priced, traded and hedged, and turn that knowledge into reliable, high performing code.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-performance, low-latency trading applications using Java
  • Work with SQL Server to design and implement efficient database solutions
  • Utilize multithreading techniques to optimize performance and scalability
  • Write maintainable and testable code using best practices, including the use of JUnit, Mockito and Cucumber
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand and refine requirements
  • Collaborate with Front-Office developers and other team members to design and implement new solutions
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Ansible
  • Continuously improve development processes and best practices

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience developing Java applications
  • Strong experience with low latency/high throuput real-time data streaming
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot, databases, and multithreading
  • Strong experience with JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber (TDD/BDD)
  • Experience with event driven systems, Pub/Sub Messaging systems (Kafka, etc)
  • Experience with System Design
  • Experience with Linux, Shell scripting etc
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and debugging
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Nice to have:
  • Experience working in Financial Markets
  • Experience with Docker, Azure DevOps, Ansible
  • Experience with low latency systems and distributed systems is a plus
  • Experience with Financial Markets technologies: ION/Marketview, Refinitiv
  • Experience using Python

  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
