Job profile

• Propose, implement and achieve all necessary actions to secure that all services and assistance provided by the Risk Management department are provided in high quality and in professional and timely manner.

• Ensure proper management of the staff (hiring, setting the goals, distribution of tasks and duties, supervision, appraisal, remuneration and training).

• Ensure efficient cooperation and maximum exchanges of information with other relevant Departments as permanent and open operational information is a key for on–going risk management. At the same time, ensure that the Risk Management team retains its independence of judgment and action.

• Guide and develop the personnel of Credit Risk Management to maximize their potential for the Branch;

• Set objectives, evaluate performance and support the personnel of Risk Management, propose adequate trainings for the staff to ensure career development;

• Ensure that the objectives and or requirements of the Branch are met by the responsible employees of Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Lending/Counterparty Credit Risk Management (CRM)

• Ensure the constant quality of the lending and counter party risk portfolio, such responsibility being exercised at all steps of the lending process, i.e. at inception (“clean” approval process, due reflection of risk and remuneration conditions in documentation, verification of facility input in the system, approval of drawings – if applicable), during the whole lifetime of the exposure to credit risks and other related risks (management/approval of excesses and deviations, reviews, abidance by covenants, evolution of the risk on specific or systemic basis, risk mitigation measures and /or work-outs – if applicable);

• Ensure abidance with all procedures and policies (local or global) pertaining to lending and counterparty risk management, including, but not limited to the approval process, development of risk monitoring and control procedures and systems, filing, etc.

Market Risk Management (MRM)

• Ensure/supervise adequate measuring, monitoring and reporting (correct, timely and complete) of market, events, issuer and underwriting risks for trading and non-trading activities, markets positions and their abidance by the limits, as covered by the policies/procedures and in line with instructions of Regional MRM function.

• Supervise and guide local MRM and ensure that all strategic/important tasks/issues are communicated with Regional MRM function and Country Manager.

• To actively participate as a voting member of Local ALCO

Operational Risk Management (ORM)

• Ensure that operational risks are properly managed within business unit according to industry best practice, recognized standards and ING specific policies, requirements and in line with instructions of Regional ORM function, meeting also all relevant regulatory requirements. 

As Member of the Management Team

• To participate actively in the general management of the organization with reference to general orientations, strategies, business plan and budget of the unit general staff management issues and policies organizational issues etc.

• To actively participate on Local Management Team meetings.

Required Background and Knowledge:

• University Degree

• 5 years of professional banking experience

• 5 years of management experience

Personal Profile (Core Competencies):

• Sound knowledge of banking/financial sector

• Good credit analytical skills and understanding of non-financial risks

• Proactive

• Strong personality

• Able to work under pressure
