ING Australia’s Wholesale Bank is looking to recruit two Analyst/Associates to support our senior frontline bankers as they engage with institutional clients across Australia in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, financial institutions, real estate, diversified corporates, food, beverage and agriculture, transport, telecommunications, media, technology, and healthcare.

Leveraging our global network, we offer tailored financial products—including financial markets, lending, global capital markets, acquisition finance, asset securitisation, and loan syndications.

As a Sector Coverage Analyst, you’ll work closely with the Head of Sectors and the coverage teams to provide first class service to clients across all sectors. You will co-ordinate and help prepare presentations and customer pitch books, do data analysis and reporting on sector pipelines, conduct market and client research to help our frontline bankers win more business and help onboard new customers with their KYC and compliance requirements.

In this role you will develop excellent knowledge in each of the sectors – you will learn who the main clients are, what products and services they require and the process that results in signing a new transaction. The idea being that in 2 to 3 years’ time you will be ready to move into one of the sectors teams yourself as a frontline banker.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who has a couple of years’ experience in the institutional banking & capital markets world, has excellent PowerPoint/presentation skills, can analyse data and present results, and wants to work in a relation management front line banker role in future.

What you’ll do

  • Engage with regional and global stakeholders to deliver an outstanding service to clients.
  • Coordinate and prepare presentations and customer pitch books regarding financing solutions and other wholesale banking products and services for existing clients and prospective clients
  • Contribute and support the execution of client engagement and transaction processes and queries which include updating sector pipelines, monitoring transactions in salesforce or adding to reporting databases. for client presentations.
  • Market, Industry and Client research by staying up to date with trends, sector developments.
  • Support the Sector coverage teams and Head of Sectors with the three ING Differences, our NPS surveys and client market surveys, customer analytics and developing monthly sector reporting.
  • Internal co-ordination with senior relationship managers/parent account managers, local account manager, product specialists, risk, compliance, operations and other internal teams to facilitate client transactions and the development of client coverage strategies.
  • Support the Relationship Managers in initiating client onboardings, prioritising and liaising with the Client Outreach team to ensure compliance with KYC policies.
  • Support Relationship Managers with internal client planning sessions and briefing notes for senior stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to ING internal policies, regulatory requirements (e.g. CPS231 outsourcing), completing mandatory training as it relates to the sector or wholesale banking organization, maintaining an open and transparent culture, managing operational risk events and issues for the business.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and conduct portfolio analysis.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the financial services with exposure to Wholesale Banking.
  • Experience with customer relationship management applications such as Salesforce would be an advantage.
  • Microsoft office suite, particularly PowerPoint and excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Understanding of risk management and active risk management for the business
