We're looking for an experienced IT Area Lead - Payments to join our Technology Enterprise & Operations leadership team and play a critical role in shaping one of the bank's most strategically important technology domains.

Reporting to the Head of Technology Enterprise & Operations, you'll lead the technology strategy, delivery and operational excellence of ING Australia's Payments domain. Partnering closely with business leaders, senior stakeholders and global technology teams, you'll drive large-scale transformation, ensure platform resilience, and deliver technology outcomes that support both customer and business growth.

As a member of the extended Technology Leadership Team, you'll influence strategic decision making, oversee critical payment platforms, and lead high-performing teams through change, innovation and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do …

  • Define and execute the technology strategy and roadmap for ING's Payments domain, aligning technology investments with business priorities and future growth.
  • Lead the delivery of a complex change portfolio, ensuring initiatives are prioritised effectively and delivered with quality, pace and measurable business value.
  • Oversee the performance, resilience, security and lifecycle management of critical Payment’s platforms and technology assets.
  • Partner with senior business leaders, Technology stakeholders and Risk teams to drive strategic decision-making and deliver customer-focused outcomes.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, Agile delivery and continuous improvement to enhance capability, productivity and innovation
  • Lead major incident management, operational risk management and regulatory compliance activities across the Payments environment.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams while fostering strong vendor partnerships and a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence.

What we’re looking for…

  • Extensive experience leading technology teams within banking, financial services or similarly complex and regulated environments.
  • Strong Payments domain expertise, with experience managing critical platforms across both technology delivery and operations.
  • Proven success developing and executing technology strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology transformation, change portfolios and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices, Agile delivery, cloud technologies and technology risk management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at Executive and Board level.
  • A track record of building high-performing teams, developing talent and leading through change in fast-paced environments
