Your role & work environment

ING Luxembourg is seeking a Head of Performance and Reward to join it's HR team.

The Head of Performance and Reward will be a key contributor of the Luxembourg Human Resources Team and is responsible for Compensation, Performance Management, Regulatory Compensation and Governance, Pay equity/transparency matters as well as for Benefits Policies to ING Luxembourg to attract and retain talents.

In this position you will be part of the HR team in the COE Performance and Reward, will have one direct report and you will be reporting to the Luxembourg HR Director and functionally, to the Head of Performance & Reward Belux.

You'll collaborate closely with local HR Business Partners, People Services, Talent & Learning colleagues to drive excellence in HR practices. You will also be also working with the Compensation Partners of the different business lines and with the COEs of the ING Group’s Performance & Reward function.

Your key responsibilities

Performance and Reward offer management: you play a key role in modelling and marketing ING Luxembourg Compensation and Benefit offering. Some of your responsibilities will consist of:

  • designing and implementing comprehensive reward and benefits programs aligned with the ING's vision and values and keeping up to date with evolutions
  • developing market intelligence, understanding our competitive positioning and where we can differentiate, help in building and aligning salary benchmarks
  • Developing internal awareness around Compensation & Benefits matters for our Senior Management, People Leaders and Employees through information sessions, workshops, internal communication campaigns, etc.

Performance and Reward activities: you are responsible for all Luxembourg's Performance and Reward activities, including the preparation and execution of the annual compensation cycle, budgeting, performance management, and the job architecture. Some of your responsibilities will consist of:

  • establishing fixed and variable pay budgets, in close collaboration with key local HR and Finance stakeholders and the ING Group Performance & Reward Team
  • managing local communication, roll-out and execution of the annual compensation round,
  • managing communication and roll-out and execution of target setting, mid-year and annual performance processes
  • managing locally the Global Job Architecture matters and ensuring employees’ mapping is up-to-date
  • managing, in close partnership with the Group, local Equal Pay Equal Work and Pay transparency matters
  • managing ad-hoc Performance & Reward related projects
  • supporting our HR colleagues on ad-hoc International Mobility cases

Benefits: you own local Benefits policies and are responsible for ensuring that our offering is competitive, in line with ING Luxembourg strategy and in line with Group’s guidance. You will be working closely with our People Services team for the operational management of Benefits and you will also be responsible for managing the contract with our Pension and Insurer vendor.

HR system and data accuracy: you are responsible for ensuring that the compensation data in our HR system (Workday) is accurate and you work closely with our HR colleagues to make sure they have the information they need to perform their work. Some of your responsibilities will consist of:

  • Auditing compensation data and ensuring it is up to date in Workday
  • Taking actively part to the Workday testing, in particular in the context of the annual Compensation Round
  • Providing local Compensation reporting to the Group

Governance & Compliance: you play a pivotal role in ensuring that Performance & Reward documentation and processes adhere to both internal and external policies and requirements. Some of your responsibilities will consist of:

  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external governance requirements for all Performance & Reward matters
  • Ensuring compliance with the ING Regulatory Remuneration Procedure (IRRP), ING Group’s policies and SOPs
  • Ensuring compliance with EU and local regulations related to Compensation matters for the financial sector
  • Supporting both internal and external audit requests regarding all Performance & Reward related matters, gather relevant data and documentation and address findings
  • Managing the Regulated staff (“MRTs”) identification process, maintaining the list, reporting to ING Group
  • Acting as Luxembourg Employee Significant Incident Events Council’s secretary:
  • Maintaining and updating on a regular basis all local Performance & Reward policies and charters
  • Ensuring regulatory reporting (e.g. annual report, Pillar III, CSSF reporting) is accurate and completed on time
  • Supporting the HR Director in the preparation of the Luxembourg Nomination & Remuneration Committee’s materials

Management of inquiries: you address standard Performance and Reward questions from our internal customers, local and Group HR colleagues.

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience in highly regulated sector. Experience in the Banking sector is considered as an advantage.

  • Proven stakeholder management and proficient communication skills.
  • Ability to roll-up sleeves and do operational tasks.
  • We value curiosity and practical application over excessive niche expertise. Since we work as a Team and value polyvalence, we also expect you to support your HR colleagues on other topics as needed.
  • Ability to understand complex regulatory landscape how this translates into practice.
  • An analytical mindset, data-driven approach are crucial.
  • Team player and ability to partner with multiple stakeholders, including outside HR.
  • Ability to manage and balance priorities.
  • An ability to work autonomously, identify and escalate bottlenecks as needed.
  • Excel proficiency is a must.
  • Knowledge of Workday and Workday Advanced Compensation is considered as an advantage.
  • You are fluent, both written and orally, in English. Any additional language (French/ Dutch) would be an asset.
