Financial Markets is part of the ING Wholesale Bank, which represents all Corporate and Investment Banking activities of ING. We have a global footprint with local reach, deep sector expertise and we play a pivotal role in areas of sustainability and innovation.

FM is the bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. In short, we assist our clients with investment and hedging risks by means of derivatives and we distribute bonds, loans, and equities towards investors. The client related business is supported by Trading, Structuring and Research expertise. Our main goal is to help our clients navigate the markets to position them for consistent and stable growth.

Your role

Institutional Sales within Financial Markets provide both flow and highly bespoke financial solutions to clients. We are functionally structured to reflect the differing needs of our clients. This is enhanced with the specialist non-flow service from the Client Solutions Group.

We transact and offer client solutions in a broad range of products including (among others) foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, money markets, financing, primary and secondary rates, and credit and structured products.

This structure enhances cross-selling, improves the flow of market/product information and aims to deepen client relationships through a platform capable of delivering a variety of products to a diverse client base.

Our local footprint of circa 300 salespeople across 28 locations, ensures that sales teams are in close proximity to our clients, delivering global expertise with local insight.

Your key responsibilities

  • A public side financial market sales role focused on delivering FX to financial institutions in EMEA – leading with FX into EU-based clients.
  • Sales coverage of and dealing with the existing clients; expansion of the FI FX client base and business growth in cooperation with colleagues across the European locations and globally
  • Active support to other ING teams in the FI network of coverage.
  • Close collaboration with the eFX colleagues ranging from strategy to the transactional level.
  • FI clients include both hedgers and investors, such as regional and private banks, financial sponsors, insurance companies, traditional and alternative strategy asset managers, etc.
  • Extensive FX derivative knowledge is critical for this position with a sophisticated customer base using both voice and electronic dealing streams. The candidate will need to play an active role in marketing and execution of this business.
  • Expert understanding of price creation and validation for all vanilla and exotic FX products.
  • Responsibility for day-to-day new client onboarding for the FI team, working closely with the relationship managers and the Front Office Support teams to get all requirements in place in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ongoing monitoring to ensure all upcoming CDD/KYC/EMIR/MIFID/DF expiries and requirements are managed to prevent any down time in client dealing ability.
  • Specialist understanding of the workflow and life cycle of financial market transactions that are placed on the Bank’s derivatives book to actively manage new and existing exposures to expiry/completion.
  • Develop significant experience with FX & Rates risk monitoring tools using the bank systems to maintain all credit and settlement lines within approved parameters.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Trading to ensure we optimise our capabilities and risk appetite.
  • Experience or familiarity with trade execution through FX algos, bank single dealer platforms, and various multi-dealer platforms, Bloomberg, 360T, FXAll, etc.
  • Outstanding ability to focus on core issues and attention to detail with swift execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive role in the constructive feedback loop, aiming to continuously improve ING’s tools, methods and way-of-working.
  • Partner with Client Solutions Group and Research in distributing their content, publications and trade ideas.

Candidate Profile

Qualification/Education

Essential:           

  • Degree level education HBO/University degree (preferably related to economics, business, finance or mathematics) or equivalent

Desirable:         

  • CFA

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:           

  • Fluent in English
  • Proficient in use of Bloomberg and Excel
  • Advance knowledge of and transactional ability in FX
  • Ability to analyse the risks and financing needs of various types of financial institutions

Desirable:

  • Fluency in macro-economics is a strong plus
  • French native speaker highly desirable
  • Any other language spoken can be helpful
  • Python (or other) coding skills would be an add-on

  • Excellent sales skills and proven track record in covering European Financial Institutional clients from a multi-product standpoint
  • Strong team player – client coverage in close coordination with other sales and trading teams in UK, Continental Europe, US & Asia
