Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

Function Overview

We offer different internship opportunities in different departments and locations of our Wholesale bank. This vacancy focuses on positions within the Financial Markets (FM) And Group Treasury (GT) Product Control function.

Product control is critical to safeguarding financial integrity and regulatory compliance, managing operational risks, and enabling informed decision making across trading activities. Under Product Control, the team ensures that the valuation of financial instruments, balance sheet, and profit and loss of trading and banking books within Financial Markets are measured, controlled and reported in accordance to IFRS accounting and regulatory standards.

Duties and responsibilities

Singapore is the regional hub for ING, including for product control activities. There are a number of different Financial Markets and Group Treasury desks controlled/supported by Product Control including Rates, Money Markets, Credit, FX, Commodities, Structured products, Non-linear derivatives, etc.

The internship would cover:

• Daily P&L reporting and risk-based P&L analysis in terms of market risk factors

• Working on ad hoc ongoing projects related to product and valuation control

• Consolidation of Daily P&L reporting for the Asia region.

• Assisting the team lead in specific valuation and P&L analysis as and when required

There would be exposure to policies and procedures governing this desk, which in turn are based on a number of items including SOX, key control testing, audit, IFRS accounting standards, regulations, bank’s risk management philosophy, current economic climate, etc.

What do we ask of you? (Skills & Specifications)

· Major in Finance/Accounting and/or Quantitative Finance streams (is a plus)

· Good written and oral communication skills

· Should have sufficient knowledge of MS Excel

· VBA / coding knowledge is a plus

· Compliance and integrity

· Good time management and adaptability

· Collaborative and be pro-active in helping the team

Exposures to various Financial Market and Group Treasury businesses which includes their respective P&L attribution, product control and valuation management framework within the bank.
