ING Structured Export Finance Amsterdam is offering 6-month internships for talented students who are in the final phase of their bachelor or master study. The team

Structured Export Finance is part of Lending within ING Wholesale Banking. The SEF global network consists of units located in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, Singapore, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. The SEF Amsterdam team is responsible for the Dutch, UK and Nordic (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway) export markets as well as the Africa and Middle East import markets.

Vacancy concerns an internship within the Amsterdam based Structured Export Finance team of currently 11 dedicated professionals, where you will be supporting colleagues with the structuring and execution of medium to long term export finance transactions. The position involves contact with clients, prospects, export credit agencies, banks, technical and legal advisors as well as cooperation with internal functions such as Credit Risk Management, Legal, Operations, and Sector teams. It may also involve supporting the team with various internal projects.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining client relationships with (i) exporters of capital goods and related services; (ii) importers/borrowers in our home and emerging markets and (iii) Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) in order to mitigate the political and commercial risks involved in export financings and (iv) semi-governmental agencies engaged in trade promotion.
  • Support origination and marketing activities: prepare presentations, term sheets and occasionally participate in meetings with clients.
  • Participate in  preparing credit applications and interact with risk management for the credit approval process.
  • Assist in structuring and concluding (complex) transactions, participate in negotiations of loan documents, interact with all parties involved in the financing package, coordinate the fulfillment of conditions precedent etc.
  • Assist in and follow-up on leads and queries from other units within the SEF global network.
  • Assist in performing research queries in markets/technologies/regulatory frameworks.

We are looking for:

  • Registered as a student at a university in the EU, note: non-EU applicants studying in the EU must be registered at a Dutch university due to visa restrictions
  • Result-driven candidates that have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, combined with excellent presentation and communication skills
  • You have a high proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
  • Are intrinsically motivated to make a positive impact on society through your work
  • Are an energetic, motivating person who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team and who can also work independently, think and act creatively, and – above all – gets things done
  • Financial knowledge is not a prerequisite, but having some affinity with the financial services sector is important.
  • Most importantly: you have a curious mindset and are eager to learn!
