We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐣-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚.

The Mission

We are looking for a passionate Front-End Dev Engineer. Our tribe is part of Financial Markets & Group Treasury, responsible for delivering IT solutions for trading, risk analysis, and hedging. As a Dev Engineer, you will actively contribute to the software developments within your squad.

The squad you will be working responsible for delivery of our next generation ING Pricing Portal and consists of 8 developers and a UX designer. The portal enables our internal clients (risk managers and traders) to calculate financial risk metrics, do risk simulations and manage trades. The Web Components-based Portal is a long-term strategic solution and a success factor in the Financial Markets digitalization and acceleration program.

We expect you to be responsible and take ownership together with your colleagues in Amsterdam, Brussels, and Bucharest. Be open, honest, proactive, and communicate clearly.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the IPA Portal on the front end journey using JavaScript and  Lit.
  • Collaborate with the back-end development teams to ensure that code is of high quality, maintainable and meets business needs.
  • Collaborate with designers to deliver a great user experience in our portal.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure that all code meets standards.
  • Collaborate with your team members on the long-term strategy for the team and the portal application; continuously improve the user experience while also reducing the time-to-market

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • +4 years of experience as a Front-End Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Experience with front-end development frameworks (e.g. Lit, Angular, React, Vue.js)
  • Experience with testing technologies and tools like Karma, Cucumber, WebdriverIO, Chai etc.
  • Experience with building tools such as Webpack, Rollup, Vite etc.
  • Experience with package managers such as NPM
  • Proficiency with Git and version control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • (Ideally) Experience with Web Components
  • (Ideally) Good understanding of browsers' native Web APIs especially Websockets, Web Workers and Web Storage APIs
