Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong passion for sustainability.

This role is ideal for someone who embraces a DevOps mindset champions green coding practices and is eager to contribute to ESG-driven (Environmental Social and Governance) initiatives.

As part of our team you’ll help shape the future of sustainable technology by building and optimizing infrastructure that supports both performance and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sustainable IT solutions, including accelerators and patterns that promote green software principles and reduce the environmental impact of IT operations.
  • Optimize private cloud resources to enhance energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support DevOps teams in monitoring system performance and carbon emissions, troubleshooting issues, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce resource consumption.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to developers, ensuring adherence to green software principles.
  • Implement security and data protection measures to maintain compliance and system integrity.
  • Stay up to date with emerging sustainable IT trends and advocate for best practices within the organization.

Key Capabilities/Experience

  • Proficient in Java (version 8 and above, with a preference for Java 11).
  • Solid expertise in Spring Framework and Spring Boot, including Streams API, Spring Security, and batch processing.
  • Skilled in developing RESTful APIs.
  • Experienced with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong background in database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL (e.g., Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Familiar with messaging and streaming platforms like Kafka, MQ, and JMS.
  • Knowledgeable in CI/CD tools and pipelines, including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Bamboo, Ansible
  • Experienced with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experienced with monitoring and visualization tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • Understanding of secure coding practices, including TLS certificates, authentication/authorization mechanisms, keystores, and password vaults.
  • Exposure to front-end development using frameworks like Angular and React.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in software design implementation and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience in Microservices Architecture, Containerization, and Orchestration.
  • Experience in developing solution designs.
  • Proven experience in backend development, including RESTful APIs, databases, and messaging services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently learning new technologies and tools (using ING-provided learning resources).
