The team

The Loan Distribution Group (“LDG”) is part of Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) and consists of four teams: Loan Syndicate, Loan Sales, Comprehensive Private Risk Insurance (CPRI) and Structured Distribution Solutions (SDS). Via these teams LDG plays a central in ‘Capital Velocity’, a ‘must win’ battle for the bank. The group has presence in 9 locations worldwide with about 100 FTE.

ING is one of the leading players in the EMEA Corporate, FI and TCF syndicated loan market by supporting its clients in complex and structured solutions for their financing needs.

The Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF) Loan Syndicate team has a high transaction flow, ranging from plain vanilla clean revolving credit facilities to multi-jurisdictional complex borrowing base facilities.

We are looking for a Vice President / Senior Associate to join our TCF Loan Syndicate team in Amsterdam. Are you ready to join a dynamic client-facing team of specialists who provide tailor-made syndicated financing solutions for our international TCF clients? You will report to Caroline Kuijt (Director Loan Syndicate– EMEA Head of Trade & Commodity Finance).

The Role & key responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for supporting both teams in the origination, structuring and execution of syndicated loan transactions for our Corporate, FI and TCF clients. This includes the gathering of market intelligence (database, market updates and analysis, documentation trends) and supporting the pitching, structuring, pricing and documenting of syndicated transactions. As a result you will be working closely with an international team of stakeholders from credit, legal, agency and operations. In conjunction with the Loan Sales team, the candidate will be involved in the distribution of syndicated loans to a wide array of banks and non-bank institutional investors. 

Client and transaction origination

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the relevant Sector Coverage Teams and departments such as Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets and Corporate Finance
  • Together with the relevant Sector Coverage Team identify, develop and acquire relationships with clients of ING
  • Support the Loan Syndicate teams in the origination, structuring, pricing and negotiation of syndicated loans. This would entail the production of or providing input for client presentations relating to transaction opportunities, structuring transactions to win the mandate and negotiating terms and conditions
  • Work within the team in Amsterdam while sharing market intelligence and supporting the teams in Frankfurt, London, Hong Kong, New York and Singapore
  • Together with the Loan Sales team, identify and maintain relationships with financial institutions including non-bank lenders

Transaction execution and management

  • Manage and assist in the execution and financial closing of syndicated transactions, including the management of the mandate and long form documentation process
  • Prepare / support in preparing Loan Syndicate Advices for (credit and risk) management that opine on credit quality and the marketability of syndicated transactions arranged and/or underwritten by ING  

Portfolio management

  • Maintain and update the various market intelligence databases as support for the presentation on market updates and/or commercial opportunities;
  • Initiate innovations to make the Loan Capital Markets platform ‘future proof’;
  • Develop new manners of presenting or analyzing the existing data to be used in presentations.

What we are looking for

  • You have 8+ years relevant experience with structuring TCF and corporate financings, preferably gained in a Sector Coverage Team or in a comparable Syndicated Finance function
  • High quality standards and attention to detail
  • You can systematically analyze problems
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch
  • You have the ability to handle particulars of the origination, execution, documentation and closing of syndicated transactions
  • You are self-aware and are able to work under tight deadlines and significant pressure as an individual and as part of the team
  • You have the ability to work in an assertive and diplomatic style towards your contacts at different levels, both internally and externally
  • You are eager to learn, curious, flexible, self-starting and with a “take it on and make it happen” mentality
  • You are a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and a good representative of the team, both internally and externally
