Customer Journey Expert Getting Paid – Retail Payments

It is an interesting time to work in payments! The Payments industry is evolving quickly with many new players entering the market. Payments are mission-critical moments for businesses and customers. If you want to work on products that literally move money at scale, under real‑world constraints, this is your role.

We are looking for 5 digital product leaders who understand customers, markets, and value creation- and who use technology as a means not a goal. You take full ownership of a journey, from discovery to live, including commercial performance (P&L). You connect customer insights, data, tech, external partners, and internal stakeholders to simplify complex payment flows and build future-proof and scale solutions internationally to deliver real customer and business value.

Your challenge

You own a payment journey (or a critical part of it) from discovery to live. You are accountable for the product vision, roadmap and prioritisation, and act as the primary decision‑maker on what we build and why. You balance customer value, business impact, feasibility, and risk, and translate insights into clear product choices— without losing speed or pragmatism. This is not an IT or engineering role.

Along the way, you simplify complexity, make trade‑offs explicit and raise the bar on product craft and stakeholder collaboration. You contribute to the broader Payments strategy, working across teams and geographies to ensure your solutions fit into a coherent, reusable payments landscape.

We are currently recruiting talents for our Getting Paid team, who provide a one-stop-shop for all digital payment acquiring solutions for businesses of any size.

We are looking for talents to drive the following challenges.

  • ING Checkout & E‑commerce Payments; Shape intuitive payment experiences that help businesses accept the right payment methods and convert more customers in their web shop. This role requires a strong stakeholder manager who envisions fin tech solutions for businesses.
  • POS Acquiring & In‑store Payments; improve how businesses get paid in-store, selecting and manage payment processing partners to deliver reliable, customer-friendly card payment solutions.
  • Direct Debits: Grow and digitise recurring payment journeys that combine ease of use while maintaining trust, control, and operational excellence.
  • Getting paid platform; Create clear, reuseable product structures that turn complex payment data into insights that fuel innovation and growth across Retail Payments.

What you bring

  • 3–8+ years of experience as a Customer Journey Expert, Product Manager or similar with delivering digital products at scale.
  • Strong focus on customer experience, value creation and commercial impact and you use data confidently to steer decisions.
  • Either solid payments expertise or a strong adjacent background in fintech, platforms or API‑driven products — combined with the ambition to deepen it.
  • Comfortable working in complex, regulated environments without losing customer focus.
  • Clear communicator influencing others across disciplines and takes ownership.
  • You are curious, pragmatic, and entrepreneurial: you take it on and make it happen.
  • You are fluent in English (Dutch is a plus) and based in the Netherlands.

What you will get

  • Ownership of high-impact payment journeys used by millions
  • Work on products that matter together with highly skilled professionals in a collaborative, agile environment.
  • Growth towards Senior CJE roles, Product Lead or Payments leadership
