The Team:

The Head of External Reporting leads ING’s consolidated external reporting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial and non-financial disclosures. This role oversees IFRS-based financial statements, regulatory filings, and ESG reporting, while maintaining strong governance and internal controls. Acting as a key liaison with auditors, regulators, and senior management, the position drives transparency and trust in ING’s external communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute ING’s global external reporting strategy, aligning financial and ESG disclosures with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for senior executives, regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders; provide clear, strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and maintain a robust control environment for external reporting; ensure adherence to IFRS, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and other global standards.
  • Financial & ESG Reporting: Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and sustainability reports; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
  • Team Development: Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global reporting team; foster collaboration across regions and functions.
  • Process Optimization: Drive transformation initiatives, including automation and standardisation of reporting processes, to enhance efficiency and quality.

How to Succeed :

  • Education & Experience: Master’s in Finance, Accounting, or related field; 10+ years in external reporting within multinational financial services.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience in IFRS, regulatory reporting, and ESG frameworks (CSRD, EU Taxonomy); familiarity with SOX compliance.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading global teams, influencing senior stakeholders, navigating effectively through complexity and a matrix organization, and motivating, engaging, and developing high performing teams.
  • Competencies: Proven experience in strategic thinking, governance and control frameworks, effective communication with senior stakeholders, and leveraging reporting systems and automation tools to drive efficiency.
  • Professional Credentials: CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
