Your role & work environment

ING Belgium is looking for a Lead Credit Regulatory Models (Lead Model Risk III) to strengthen its Integrated Risk Management department.
In this senior leadership role, you will steer ING Belgium’s end‑to‑end Regulatory and IFRS9 modelling landscape, ensuring model compliance, strategic value creation, and robust stakeholder engagement with supervisors and senior leadership.

You will lead a team of credit risk modelling experts in Belgium, work in close partnership with modelling squads in Poland and other Hub locations, and collaborate with Group stakeholders in the Netherlands.
This role is critical to supporting ING Belgium’s capital strategy, optimizing RoE, and ensuring regulatory excellence, fully aligned with ING’s Together for Progress ambitions.

You report hierarchically to the Head of Integrated Risk Management.

Your key responsibilities

Strategic Modelling Leadership

  • Own, define, and steer the regulatory and IFRS9 modelling roadmap for ING Belgium
  • Set the modelling strategy across (i) model redevelopment strategy, (ii) modelling data and infrastructure, (iii) modelling platforms and (iv) model staffing (HC 30) across locations
  • Ensure all local IRB and IFRS9 models remain regulatory compliant and translate regulatory developments (CRR3, ECB expectations, EBA guidelines) into clear strategic priorities

Value Creation & Risk Appetite Support

  • Drive Risk‑Weighted Assets optimisation through recalibration initiatives, contributing directly to Return on Equity uplift
  • Ensure IFRS9 models support sound risk cost forecasting, as well as proactive stakeholder management, working through functional oversight of 20 HC modelling teams in the Risk Hub

Team Leadership and Collaboration

 Stakeholder management

  • Safeguard high-quality, consistent supervisory interaction with ECB / JST / NBB, Model validation and internal corporate audit services
  • Act as the single accountable entry point for senior stakeholders on modelling matters
  • Maintain oversight of ING Belgium’s full model inventory (local and global models)

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead a team of 5 direct reports (1 team lead, 4 model contributors and functional oversight of 20 HC in modelling hubs
  • Manage and develop modelling specialists (including BE, Poland, and Turkey)
  • Set clear goals, track dependencies, and ensure timely delivery of modelling commitments
