Corporate Finance / M&A

Join ING Corporate Finance, a leading Belgian Corporate Finance house, and become part of a dynamic team of around 15 professional advisors. Under the guidance of a senior advisor, you will engage with key decision-makers at a wide range of medium and large companies, financial sponsors, and other external advisors, including law firms, auditors, and other corporate finance houses.

In this role, you will assist in preparing and participating in pitches to potential clients. This involves drafting tailored pitches, conducting in-depth industry analysis, reviewing company strategies and financials, and crafting strategic recommendations that could influence clients' investment or disposal decisions. You will also gather and analyse data on potential acquisition opportunities, assessing their feasibility. Fluency in English and Dutch, both written and spoken, is essential.

Throughout the Corporate Finance process, you will support clients at every step. This includes participating in various transaction stages such as data room preparation, coordination, due diligence, and legal documentation follow-up. You will assist in drafting transaction documents like process letters, information memoranda, and valuation reports. Additionally, you will coordinate collaboration between clients, potential investors, and other external advisors. Your role will also involve preparing documentation for and coordinating Equity Capital Markets transactions.

Debt Capital Markets 

Explore the world of ING Debt Capital Markets transactions and origination, and develop expertise in various bond structures, pricing, the primary and secondary markets, transaction execution, interest rates, swaps, and other money market instruments.

In this role, you will be involved in deal execution for bond refinancings, liability management and sustainable bond market considerations. This includes preparing investor presentations to shape clients' credit stories, structuring deal terms, guiding on bond documentation, and liaising with clients, lawyers, and other banks. You will advise clients and pitch bond transactions, always framing ING's advice within the context of clients' broader capital structures.

You will prepare market and pricing updates to keep clients informed about changes in the macroeconomy and the primary and secondary bond and loan markets. Additionally, you will conduct relevant analysis and identifycomparables. Collaboration with other teams on new opportunities, identifying bond market prospects, and educating ING counterparts on the product and current market environment will also be key aspects of your role.

Loan Sales

Join ING's Loan Sales team and interact with the global loan investor market, distributing loans and loan-based products to banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and investment managers. You will be involved in primary loan syndications and secondary loan sales across sectors like Energy, Transport, Infrastructure, TMT, and Corporate Finance.

Operating from five global hubs (London, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, and Singapore), the team collaborates closely with internal partners, taking ownership of sales strategy and execution while providing market insights. Your tasks will include assisting in the syndication process, preparing pitches, conducting liquidity analysis, compiling league tables, and creating market reports.You will be coached by senior colleagues, working out of Brussels in a cross-border team. Your targets will be set based on team needs and your skills.

As an intern, you should have a strong understanding of finance, be proficient in Excel (Python is a plus), communicate clearly, be analytical and innovative, and be organized with a focus on data quality. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and make an impact in the Loan Sales sector at ING.

Essential Requirements:

  • Availability of 3 to 6 months

  • The candidate must be a studentenrolled in his/her study. 

  • Preference for candidates in their final year of study, with an excellent academic track record.

  • Prior experience through internships is of added value but not a pre-requisite.

  • Strong interest in at least one of the areas covered above.

  • Highly numerate.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; Dutch is mandatory for the Corporate Finance/M&A team

  • Foreign languages are advantageous but not a pre-requisite.

  • Looking for candidates with a strong eagerness to learn and who thrive in fast-paced environments.
