The Mission

The core banking domain is at the heart of banking, it contains the back-office fulfilment engine which performs the account management function for the core products of the customer (such as savings, current account, deposits, payments, and investment products). The Core Banking domain is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of several countries in Europe such as Italy, Spain, Romania, Germany delivered as a set of global services.


As an IT Business Analyst within the core banking domain, you will be responsible for understanding business requirements, finding implementation options together with a developer and present the solution to your stakeholders.

You also need to understand business requirements from different banking areas and can collaborate with other senior engineers, architects and IT Business Analysts and are able to influence and steer design decisions within the application.

We are currently looking for an IT Business Analyst to join the Accounts Engine RPCs (AE RPCs) squad, which is in charge of developing common functionality for our core banking systems, with the purpose of standardizing selected capabilities for all instances of core banking managed within our domain.

As an IT Business Analyst within the AE RPCs squad, you will be responsible for understanding business requirements, finding implementation options together with the architects to deliver a global capability, easy to use and implement by other instances of core banking.

You also need to conduct requirements and design workshops independently and present the solution to your stakeholders.

You are the IT Business Analyst we are looking for if you have a good knowledge of banking business processes/products, strong technical background, experience in designing technical solutions and implementing automated tests.

The ideal candidate has 5 - 7 years of experience in banking industry, plus the technical skills that will help him/her perform in this role.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Interpret and clarify requirements and refine the product backlog
  • Design multiple technical solutions and validate the best one with the architect
  • Write software development technical specifications and user stories and help estimate their complexity
  • Analyse processes and work with stakeholders and end users to ensure the system correctly models their latest process
  • Transform complex requests into alignment proposals​ and get the agreement on the final solution from all the consumers​
  • Understand and translate complex business needs / requirements into functional specifications
  • Handle a request end-to-end: refine requirements, business process definition and design sessions with decision makers (product owner and/or his representatives), system owners and end users, under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Ensure the quality of the product and consider non-functional requirements (security, performance, availability, or scalability).
  • Manage quality assurance processes to ensure submitted development work meets requirements
  • Build, optimize, and automate processes - analyse dependencies, predict consequences, and identify areas for improvement
  • Deliver training, documentation, and technical support for the developed products/solutions
  • Participate in daily agile ceremonies with in-house and external developers to help ensure that work in progress will meet requirement goals
  • Collaborate with developers to adapt solutions to the existing environment 
  • Create automated functional tests for user stories and SMOKE. Build and execute (automated) functional and integration tests and (automated) user acceptance and production tests

What you bring to the team

  • Good knowledge of banking business processes/products
  • Ideally 5 years’ experience in the Banking Industry
  • Technical skills: deep understanding of SQL or no-SQL databases
  • Strong analytical capabilities, methodical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Decision-making, conceptual thinking
  • Ability to manage a global product in an international context with multiple clients.
  • Experience with global products aligned to multiple stakeholders’ requirements
  • Adaptability to multiple clients’ requirements
  • Knowledge and best practices of security, audit, IT architecture
  • Fluency in English it is a must

Nice to have:

  • Experience with core banking technologies
  • Experience with Azure Devops or Gitlab are considered a plus
  • IT Landscape and software development lifecycle knowledge (experience of working with an agile methodology would be an advantage)
