Job Overview

The Data Analyst will be accountable for producing analytics and insights which deliver material efficiency, risk and customer experience benefits. The incumbent will be accountable for the end-to-end development of analytics including requirements gathering, sourcing and integrating data, building analytical models, publishing insights and data visualization as well as the ongoing maintenance and optimization of these assets.

The role works with, and supports Senior Management, Tribes and Process Leaders to execute a data driven optimization strategy for business decisioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reporting & analytics which aim to use reporting, monitoring and predictive analytics to optimise business performance
  • Use complex data and tools to understand all aspects of process performance and explain performance trends to senior stakeholders and business partners
  • Recommend process improvements to senior stakeholders
  • Utilise best practice data visualisation techniques to powerfully convey insights and facilitate data discovery
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within business units to improve service, reduce costs and manage risk within appetite

Key Capabilities/Experience

  • For a Senior role: 5+ years of work experience in a data-related position within a banking team, working with business and technical experts.
  • Strong experience in processing data for BI purposes: exploring and processing data, data modelling, data warehouses, data quality and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., Master, PhD) or a strong academic record with advanced coursework in Math, Statistics, and data management is a strong plus.
  • Experience in relational database & data warehouse.
  • Proficiency in querying languages (e.g. SQL, SAS) or other data mining and manipulation tools
  • Extensive experience using data visualisation tools in creating storytelling dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI, Cognos, Tableau)
  • Experience in building predictive analytical models (e.g. Python) is a plus.

  • Ability to operate at own initiative with a pro-active attitude in line with bank policy
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
