In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

As part of the ING WB Internship program in Asia, the HR Department has opportunities across the following HR functions, People Service, Talent & Learning, Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners. The eventual assignment may be dedicated or shared amongst these areas.

What does the Human Resources People Services Team do in ING?

The People Services team in Human Resources focusses on the day-to-day governance and delivery of HR services to our staff ranging from onboarding through the lifecycle of the employee journey.

What would you be doing?

As an intern, you will provide support to the People Services function in all HR risk administration related matters.

The work will cover HR services for the Asia region such as;

  • Support the People Services team in the administration and management of HR Systems and Processes across Tier 1 and Tier 2 activities across employee queries, onboarding, off boarding and other events in the HR lifecycle 

  • Assist with driving the review the maintenance and documentation of HR related operating procedures and policies as required

  • Support HR projects such as HR Administration efficiency and onboarding projects for ING Asia

  • Perform some HR reporting

What does the Human Resources Talent & Learning and Talent Acquisition teams do in ING?

The Talent & Learning and Talent Acquisition team in Human Resources partners with the business to build leadership capability, strengthen talent bench strength, acquire talents in alignment with our growth strategy and help employees develop skills for the future.

What would you be doing?

As an intern, you will be exposed to the day‑to‑day delivery of Talent & Learning and Talent Acquisition initiatives across APAC. This includes:

  • Supporting marketing efforts for various talent and learning initiatives

  • Helping coordinate leadership and learning programmes

  • Supporting communications such as invitations, reminders, and programme materials

  • Assisting with research, preparation of slides, and stakeholder updates

  • Supporting the end-to-end hiring process and employer branding initiatives

  • Other key tasks include managing candidate communication, assisting with onboarding documentation and maintaining the applicant tracking systems (ATS)

  • Working closely with both Talent & Learning and Talent Acquisition teams on various people initiatives

This role offers hands‑on exposure to how we acquire talent, develop people, and strengthen leadership across APAC in a global organisation.

What does the HR Business Partner team do at ING?

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team partners closely with leaders and employees to shape and deliver people strategies that enable business performance. This includes strengthening talent pipelines, managing performance cycles, supporting employee relations, enhancing the employee experience, and embedding Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) principles across the organisation. The team collaborates with HR Centres of Expertise to ensure employees are engaged, supported, and positioned for long‑term success.

What would you be doing?

As an intern with the HR Business Partner team, you will gain hands‑on exposure to the delivery of key HR processes and people initiatives across APAC. You will learn how HR partners with the business to build talent, foster engagement, and support employees in a dynamic, regional environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Talent Management & Performance Management Support - Assist with talent review and performance management activities, including data preparation, documentation, and coordination of communications and timelines.

  • Employee Experience & Insights - Support survey analysis, onboarding improvement initiatives, and other activities aimed at enhancing the overall employee experience.

  • Employee Relations & Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) - Provide operational support for employee relations matters and help coordinate activities, communications, and events related to DIB initiatives.

  • Projects & HR Events - Contribute to the planning and execution of HR events, and support broader HR projects through research, preparation of materials, and team coordination

  • Stakeholder Communications & Operations - Prepare presentations, updates, and communication materials, and conduct research or benchmarking to support HR decision‑making and ongoing initiatives.

What qualities and skills are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria:

  • You should have legal work rights in the country of internship.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable with handling large volumes of information

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Able to visualize and understand the end to end of a process

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)

  • Reasonable level of savviness with IT to use HR systems and data to be efficient in work

  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Resourceful and willingness to learn

  • Previous internship in HR or a major in HR would be of added value

What would you gain from this internship?

Real world hands on experience with day-to-day HR administration activities in the banking and financial services industry plus witness the migration of tasks to globalized HR processes and systems
