Internship Community Engagement & AI Enablement | Global Brand, Marketing & Comms Team

We’re looking for a proactive and creative intern to join our Community Engagement function in the HQ team. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn, enjoys creating engaging content, and has a strong interest in how AI can enhance internal communications, collaboration, and learning.

About Us

We are ING, a global financial institution with a strong European base, committed to providing outstanding banking services. Our Community Engagement team is part of the Global Brand, Marketing and Communications department, focusing on boosting engagement within our organisation through innovative tactics, internal events (off-sites, virtual global team sessions), learning and development programmes (certified trainings, masterclasses), and more.

In addition, we are actively driving the adoption of AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) across our global community, enhancing productivity, collaboration, and learning experiences.

Role Overview

During your internship, you will support several initiatives designed to enhance community engagement and contribute to our AI adoption journey. Your responsibilities will include:

Community engagement & communications

  • Assisting in creating and sharing content on our internal community platforms (e.g., Viva Engage).

  • Supporting the organisation of internal events, both in-person and online, including logistics and coordination.

  • Managing and updating distribution lists for internal communications.

  • Assisting in designing and sending out internal newsletters to keep the team informed and engaged.

  • Engaging with our community to ensure an active and connected environment.

  • Gathering and reporting on basic engagement metrics to help optimise community activities.

AI enablement & knowledge sharing

  • Researching and curating relevant AI news, trends, and use cases (internally and externally) to share with the team.

  • Supporting initiatives that drive the adoption of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) across the department.

  • Collaborating on internal campaigns or communications that promote AI awareness and best practices.

  • Helping to track progress and engagement within the department-wide AI learning and educational programmes.

  • Maintaining and updating AI-related documentation, resources, and internal channels (e.g., SharePoint hubs, learning pages).

  • Supporting the organisation of AI-related sessions, demos, or knowledge-sharing moments.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic student who is eager to learn and contribute to both community engagement and AI-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a WO student in Communication, Marketing, International Business, or a related field.

  • Have an interest in community engagement, internal communications, and/or events.

  • Be curious about AI, digital tools, and innovation in the workplace.

  • Be comfortable working with tools like Microsoft 365; familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) is a plus.

  • Be able to work independently and think creatively to solve problems.

  • Possess strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

  • Be proactive, hands-on, and able to work both independently and in a team.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with organising events.

  • Experience with creating content (social, newsletters, internal comms).

  • Basic understanding of engagement metrics and analytics.

  • Interest in or exposure to AI tools, prompt writing, or digital innovation.

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • An internship of 6 to 10 months, starting September 2026.

  • An internship compensation of €700 per month for a 36-hour work week.

  • A dynamic and international working environment with a team of professionals.

  • The opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both community engagement and AI adoption.

  • A strong learning environment with access to innovative tools and resources.

Important Information

This is a working/learning internship, so there is no room for a graduating project.

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
