Your role & work environment

As an economist, you support all ING departments and clients with analyses and forecasts of the financial and economic environment. You will contribute as an expert to the image of the bank in contacts with clients and the press.

You will be part of a team of Brussels-based economists, supporting mainly the bank and its clients in Belgium. At the same time, you will be part of the Global Research team and work with international colleagues to define global economic visions.

Your key responsibilities

Economic analysis and forecasting

- Deep-dive in macro, sectoral and financial data.

- Contributing to the analysis of macro-economic developments and structural trends in selected economies in order to make forecasts and scenario analysis for key macro-economic and financial variables.

Writing both short notes and in-depth reports on these topics. 

Internal and external communication

- Communicating key views and forecasts to colleagues, clients and the press.

Give presentations and interviews, record webinars, videos and podcasts.

As an economist you will also need:

  • University degree in (advanced) economics

  • PhD or an additional degree is an asset

  • Some experience in economic research

  • Perfect Dutch speaker, with excellent oral/written skills in English and practical knowledge of French

  • Computer skills, with a good knowledge of MS Office, AI, data analysis, working with charts and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Team player, but able to work autonomously

  • Dynamic, with a sense of initiative
