Introduction

Start your career at the heart of capital markets with ING’s Capital Markets & Advisory Early Career Group (ECG) program. As a Junior Originator in the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Financial Institutions Group (FIG) team in Amsterdam, you’ll gain hands-on experience advising leading financial institutions across Europe and contribute to executing impactful bond transactions, including sustainable finance solutions.

The team
You will join ING’s Global Capital Markets team within Wholesale Banking, with your home base in the DCM FIG team in Amsterdam. The team covers banks and insurance clients across Europe and plays a key role in originating and executing bond issuances. You will collaborate with experienced originators and work closely with teams across Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Structuring, and Distribution. The environment is fast-paced, international, and highly collaborative, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability.
As part of the ECG program, you will complete two six-month rotations across Advisory, Capital Markets, and Structuring, giving you broad exposure and helping you build a well-rounded investment banking skillset.

Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you will support deal origination and execution across the FIG client base, while developing your technical and commercial capabilities:
  • Support senior originators in daily client coverage and transaction execution
  • Maintain transaction databases and prepare market updates, pricing analyses, and insights
  • Perform initial credit analysis on potential bond issuers
  • Prepare client pitches, including market positioning, pricing comparables, and capital structure recommendations
  • Identify bond opportunities and collaborate with internal stakeholders across ING
  • Assist in structuring bond transactions, including conventional and sustainable financing solutions
  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence, offering memoranda, and roadshow materials
  • Ensure compliance by preparing accurate and complete transaction documentation
  • Deliver ad-hoc analyses and contribute to team projects

To succeed in this role, you bring:
  • Strong interest in macroeconomics and financial markets, enabling you to identify opportunities and support client discussions
  • Academic background in finance, economics, or a related field, providing the foundation for analytical work
  • Understanding of debt capital markets and fixed income instruments, helping you contribute quickly to transactions
  • Ability to analyse financial statements, supporting credit assessments and structuring decisions
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, enabling clear communication of complex ideas
  • Strong communication skills in English, allowing effective interaction with clients and internal teams
  • Commercial mindset and proactive attitude, helping you originate ideas and support mandate wins
  • Resilience under pressure, ensuring performance in a fast-paced deal environment
  • Attention to detail and reliability, critical for execution quality and compliance
